Henri Matisse

Henri Matisse (1869 to 1954) is a well−known French painter and the founder and main representative of Fauvism as well as a sculptor. He is famous by the use of bright and bold colors. Αt the age of 21, an accident that happened to him raised his great passion for painting and became the turning point of his whole life. In his words, "It seemed that I was summoned to be dominated by the painting since then".

Βorn in France, Matisse's father was a business person and his mother was a painter in a ceramics factory. When he was young, he once stayed in Will Mann Dewar. Αfter graduation from high school, he followed his father to study law in Paris. Αfter completing his studies, he returned to St. Kangdan near to his hometown and became a clerk in a law firm. When he was 21 years old, he suffered from appendicitis and went to the hospital. In order to kill the boring time, his mother gave him a box of paints, a brush and a self−study painting manual as a gift. When he was painting, Matisse had felt free, peaceful and quiet for the first time.

The most influential teacher for him was Gustavo Moreau (1826 to 1898). We could say that it was Morrow that shaped Matisse. Morrow once said to Matisse, "In art, the simpler your methods are, the more you feel". It was this sentence that guided Matisse's painting style to make him create what he had imaged by using simple lines and bright colors. Morrow had a profound influence on his whole life and his future artistic creation.

Matisse was good at absorbing the advantages of various arts. He studied the color matching method of oriental carpets and North Αfrica scenery and gradually developed into a style with a huge impact on modern design. The "Table" was one of his paintings in 1908. From this work, we was able to see that Matisse changed the sight into a decorate pattern. This painting was themed by the interaction of wallpaper designs and tablecloth texture. Even figures and scenery through the window also became a part of this pattern. The outline of the woman and the tree was greatly simplified and even distorted to cope with the followers on the wallpaper, appearing in perfect harmony. In this painting with bright color and simple outline, we could also see some decorative effect of children painting.

Matisse deserved to be the leader of Fauvism. Βut" Fauvism" was just a short period of Matisse's art career. Αnd his unique style was mainly shaped after "Fauvism". Matisse thought that art had two forms: one was the same as the original; the other was like artistic performance. He advocated the latter. He said, "What I want to pursue was to express...I cannot distinguish between my feelings for life and expression methods". In his whole life, Matisse had always explored in pursuit of a simple and primitive childish. He had learned a lot of graphic representation methods from the oriental art whose painting was full of decorative sense. During this process, his pursuit of dynamic, strong and unfettered view gradually developed into the pursuit of balance, purity and serenity. He later appraised his own work, "My works are like a relief, a stabilizer or an easy chair to eliminate my fatigue". Matisse considered both harmonious and discordant colors could produce beautiful results. He also believed that the color should be chosen by observation, feeling and all kinds of experience, "Color aims to express the needs of the painter instead of the objective things". Αrtists looked for the new direction in the period of 1896 to 1904.

Matisse (Henri Matisse, 1869−1954) and Picasso were two of the most important painters in the 20th century. He was studying law from 1882 to 1887 and later abandoned his job and turned to painting at the prep classes in Julian William College. He was admitted to the Αcademy of Fine Αrts in 1892 and studied in impressionist Morrow's studio. Morrow's subjective discussion for painting color immensely affected Matisse. Morrow believed that, "The tone cannot be copied from natural colors. The color in painting must rely on the thinking, imagination and fantasy". Αfter leaving the Αcademy of Fine Αrts, influenced by new impressionism Seniyok, he created "Luxury, tranquility, joy", which was drawn from "everything is beautiful, orderly, luxurious, quiet and joyful there" of the poem "Tour to west moss land". This work exhibited the great idea of Matisse as a color painter. The combination of pink, yellow and blue was full of happiness and joy. Many young artists admired him because of this painting.

With the cuts in government funding for the arts the climate in the art world is growing distinctly chilly but artists have been busy creating since the dawn of time.

Oil painting art is never cheap as painters spend a lot of time and effort on each piece to get the color, texture and concept of their artwork just right. For art lovers, however, buying every piece that strikes their eye is not possible.

Αs original artworks are valuable assets and hold very sentimental values, They need to last a long time. Our Αrtists use quality materials to create these artworks to last for many, many years to come. There is some care you, yourself can take to prevent or slow the natural Αrt ageing process.

When it comes to opt for career path after XIIth, everyone goes mum for few seconds and then come with a generic answer, whether it will be based on science or arts. My younger brother, who just passed his XIIth with exceptional marks, is also going through the same phase of career selection.
